Email subscriptions tutorial for fellow bloggers!

Image
You might recall that, a few weeks ago, I had to transition my email subscription system from FeedBurner (which is what most people on Blogger use) to Mailchimp, because FeedBurner's email subscription system is being discontinued in July. Well, it occurred to me that many of my fellow bloggers would be dealing with this issue as well, and so I decided to record a video tutorial on how to make this transition yourself if you have a blog on Blogger! It's a pretty long video, because it's a pretty long process—there might be other services instead of Mailchimp that are easier to set up, but Mailchimp (a) is free for most bloggers, (b) is full of features, (c) has a thorough support database, and (d) is not going to go bankrupt or disappear of the face off the earth in a week, so I decided it was the service to go with. The tutorial is embedded below, and if you have any questions about the process that I don't cover in the video, please leave them in the comments below, a

Unfortunately, I have to miss MMGM yet again for a second week in a row, due to my own poor planning. This means two YA books in a row—speaking of which, make sure not to miss last week's YA review, which was of a super-totally-amazing graphic novel called Are You Listening?  by Tillie Walden! An important note:  If you are on Blogger and you need help moving your email subscribers out of FeedBurner to another system, I just recorded a tutorial video on setting up the system that I use, Mailchimp! I will post the video on my blog in a few days, so keep an eye out! Also, quick blog news: I have added two widgets to my blog sidebar to make my old reviews easier to find! (If you can't see the sidebar, make sure to go to the blog homepage online and then click on the three lines in the top-left.) The first widget, Browse by Top Picks   (Update [8/13/2021]: Browse by Category) , has a selection of fun categories I've sorted my recommendations into (such as "Food (Because Wh

Last post before email subscription change

***Important notice to email subscribers*** In case you missed it from my last post, I have been forced to change email subscription providers for my blog, and I am now using Mailchimp instead of FeedBurner. All of the existing subscribers were migrated over, so you do NOT  need to resubscribe to keep receiving emails. This post is my last one before I fully disable the FeedBurner system and rely solely on Mailchimp to deliver my posts . You should have received two copies of this week's review of Are You Listening? , one via FeedBurner and one via Mailchimp (the Mailchimp email has a blue background, looks like my website, and has an ad for Mailchimp at the very bottom). You should also have received two copies of this post through both systems. If the Mailchimp emails went to spam/junk, please make sure to add the email address completelyfullbookshelf@gmail.com to your contacts. (Please do not send emails to this address—I do not check it.) Starting on Saturday, all emails from m

***Important notice for email subscribers*** Blogger continues to get more and more aggravating for me (and I'm sure for everyone else as well). This time, it's because most people on Blogger use a system from Blogger's owner, Google, called FeedBurner to run email subscriptions. Unfortunately, Google has decided to make a gigantic mess for basically everyone on Blogger by discontinuing FeedBurner's email subscription system in July of this year. Because I had some spare time this week, I have migrated my email subscription system from FeedBurner to a new system called Mailchimp.  So what does this mean for you? Well, first off, you do NOT need to resubscribe to keep receiving my  emails —I exported all of my subscribers from FeedBurner and imported them into Mailchimp, so if you have been receiving emails in the past, you will continue receiving them now. By Monday evening, you should have received two copies of this post, one from FeedBurner and one from Mailchimp (th

What a week. I'm not going to get into everything except to say that I am of course utterly appalled and disgusted by the anti-trans legislation in Arkansas. I heard from others that there is a small nonprofit organization in Arkansas called Intransitive that supports transgender people and is advocating against these laws; consider making a donation! Unfortunately, I don't have the mental fortitude for a full super-depressed write-up on that mess—at the rate we're going in the world, I would never actually have any time to review books—but I did want to mention the situation quickly. Also, since I've had the most unpleasant morning, I'm going to warn you all: if you have a Mac, and you are super-behind on software updates, and you are planning to install macOS Big Sur (the newest version), please, please, PLEASE  check and make sure that you actually have enough storage to install it. Because my sibling's Mac laptop gave us the go-ahead to install Big Sur even

Update (4/2/2022): I typically participate in blogging groups that review kids’ books, but sometimes, I do end up reading adult books like this one. In the past, I have typically labeled those books as MG or YA when I review them, primarily because I still want my typically blogging audiences to see them! However, this has become confusing, so I have decided to re-label these books as adult books, while leaving the reviews in their original format. Thank you for your consideration! Before we get to today's post, I have the winners of the 2021 Books by Asian-American Voices Giveaway to announce! We had 15 entrants and 5 winners, which means you all had a 1-in-3 chance of winning (not bad!). The winner of Displacement  by Kiku Hughes is... Aaron! The winner of Where the Mountain Meets the Moon  by Grace Lin is... Danielle! The winner of Measuring Up  by Lily LaMotte and Ann Xu is... Maria! The winner of Parachutes  by Kelly Yang is... Shaye! And the winner of The Magic Fish  by Trun
